Winter Socials and Hours of Operations

Dear Rome Racquets Family,

Can you believe it is nearly November?! Our team is gearing up for a busy season of socials and tournaments, starting with our Halloween Social at the Downtown Center tonight, followed by our “Boos & Booze” Mixer at RTC on Monday.

In addition, we are proud to host two pickleball tournaments very soon that are supporting our local communities. Our 2022 Pickleball Partnership Tournament, coming up THIS Saturday, is a one-day event benefitting The Exchange Club Family Resource Center here in Rome. In December, we are teaming up with Mark Spackman of the Georgia Pickleball Association to host the Rome Christmas Classic benefitting Toys for Tots. It is a privilege to leverage our world-class facilities and passion for racquet sports to give back, and we hope you’ll join us for some of the action this season!

As mentioned, our “Boos & Booze” Halloween mixer is coming up Monday, October 31st from 6-8pm. Join us for a scary-good evening of live ball doubles, drinks and of course, a Halloween Costume Contest! As always, members are FREE and guests are welcome at $10 per person. Please call the front desk at 706-236-4490 or email Kyndra at k.gilley@cliffdrysdale.com to RSVP.

Adult Tennis Classes

Our team is always on a mission to bring you a mix of clinics and instruction that meets your goals and interests on court. That being said, we have made a few small revisions and additions to our Adult Clinic Schedule:

  • Cardio Tennis will now take place at 9-10am on Fridays and Saturdays
  • Ladies Doubles Clinic has been moved to Friday mornings at 10-11:30am
  • *NEW* Sets & Sips Class happens on Saturdays from 10am-12pm. Sets & Sips features warm up drills, live ball games and round robin social play to kickstart your weekend!

As always, if you have any questions or feedback about the schedule, please do not hesitate to reach out to Director of Tennis, Teg Lozano, at t.lozano@cliffdrysdale.com.

RTC Winter Hours of Operation

Effective Tuesday, November 1st, our Winter Hours will be as follows:

  • Monday-Friday: 9am-9pm
  • Saturday: 9am-4pm
  • Sunday: 10am-4pm

Please call the front desk at 706-236-4490 or email Kyndra at k.gilley@cliffdrysdale.com with any questions.

We are thrilled to welcome some new faces to our tennis program thanks to our beginner Tennis 101 series! During Week 1, Teg and his team covered the groundstroke fundamentals. This week, players have been building their rallying abilities. We can’t wait to see this crew in more of our classes and mixers at RTC!

Last newsletter, we featured RTC members Pete and Rachel Irvin. This week, we are excited to put the spotlight on Downtown member Susan Herring, aka “Crocs”! A tennis-turned-pickleball player, Susan has been playing for 2 years and says her favorite thing about the sport is the people!

She enjoys the Downtown Center for the opportunity to play with a variety of players and always learn something new. We are proud to have Susan in our Racquets Family!

Rome Downtown Member Spotlight

As mentioned, we are pleased to host two pickleball tournaments not only designed to give our members and local play some competition opportunities, but also as a way for us to give back to our community. Coming up THIS Saturday, October 29th, we have our Pickleball Partnership Tournament benefitting The Exchange Club Family Resource Center here in Rome. This is a one-day tournament perfect for a quick dose of competition at the Downtown Center! Please note, play will now begin at 9am on Saturday. Registration is available online here: https://rometenniscenter.com/pickleball-partnership-tournament/

December 9th-11th, we are pleased to partner with the Georgia Pickleball Association to bring regional players to our facility for a weekend tournament benefitting Toys for Tots. This is an excellent opportunity to not only build your competitive skillset for a good cause, but to also meet new players outside of the immediate Rome area! We are looking forward to a fantastic event just over a month out. Please visit the tournament registration page here for more details.

Pickleball Tournaments

You are looking at a few of our newest pickleball players, as this group has just graduated from our 4-week Pickleball 101 session! Our Downtown team is thrilled to welcome them to America’s fastest growing sport now that they’ve mastered the fundamentals, and we can’t wait to see where they take their new skills.

If you or someone you know missed out on this Pickleball 101 session, not to worry! We have two more sessions coming up this year. Full details and registration is available on our website HERE.
