As Hot Shots steps into it’s 20th year here in Rome, let’s take a look at some reasons they are so much more than a Cheerleading Gym. You may even find how they can serve you.
1. They’re among the best in the nation
Whether you’ve visited their website or just seen a social media post, it’s no surprise that Hot Shots Cheer Teams are among the best in the nation. Signs, banners, and trophies around the gym boast of numerous competition championships; well over 300 in all! There is no doubt that joining a team will build skills, confidence, and a sense of achievement in your child.
2. They have history
Hot shots gym is celebrating their 20th year here in Rome. Owner Rachel Magness started coaching private sessions in 1999 and became so busy she just couldn’t miss out on growing this opportunity. Fast forward 20 years and she has two amazing facilities, three growing daughters, and still finds time to coach.
3. The Gyms are Cheer-Specific
A few years after Hot Shots became official, Rachel and husband Grant had a state of the art facility built specifically for cheerleading, complete with two separate practice spaces (featuring a 54 by 42 foot competition spring floor and a 9 panel, GHSA foam floor), an in-ground tumble trak and foam pit, and 35 foot inflatable air trak, to ensure the best equipment in the safest way possible. There is also a separate area with equipment for younger children. A second gym is located in Fort Oglethorp!
4. There is something for EVERY CHILD
“At Hot Shots, we have a tumbling class or cheerleading team for EVERY child, and for EVERY ability! You are never ‘too beginner’ or ‘too advanced’ to take advantage of the developmentally appropriate training options at Hot Shots. With the right instruction, encouragement, and dedication, we believe that EVERY young person can be a STAR!”

5. You can rent the gym for your child’s next birthday party
Let your children and their friends get their energy out on the bouncy equipment, trampolines, rope swing, and foam pit (with supervision provided). Afterwards, join together with tables and chairs to eat cake and enjoy time together. To book, stop by the gym or call 706-236-SHOT.
6. They offer a quality pre-school program
Called Where Kids Fit, the preschool at Hot Shots is top notch. Ages 3-5 can attend 2-3 days Tuesday through Thursday from 9am-1pm. Free play time is important for pre-schoolers, and Where Kids Fit is a nice blend of social play (activity stations to start the day), active play (in the big gym–no need to worry about the weather), and academics. Children learn age appropriate subjects including from caring, qualified and loving teachers. Registration is open now.

9. They are deeply involved in giving back
Remember how they said there is something for EVERY child? They mean it. Hot Shots owner Grant Magness started a non-profit called Mission ISpossible, an organization committed to local outreach and service. Through MIPs Shining Stars program, special needs athletes get to experience a real cheerleading camp, learn a real cheerleading routine, attend real cheerleading practices with real cheer coaches, wear real cheer uniforms, and represent their community with three incredible team performances!
Also, each month those with special needs and their families are invited to a monthly Birthday Party at Hot Shots to celebrate each other and have fun while parents take some respite time.
Team MIP is an organization for service-minded youth who want to make a difference in their community.
10. They stress a positive, uplifting environment and family-friendly focus
If you haven’t noticed by now, Hot Shots has a focus to create more than just a good cheer team. They work to create a family/cheer balance. They work to cultivate each students’ confidence and talent. They work to establish a better community.
“The owners of Hot Shots are amazing athletes themselves. Coach Rachel is a level 10 gymnast and cheered for a number of years including in college. She is great with the girls! So is her husband, Coach Grant. He helped Micaela immensely with her back handspring! All the coaches we worked with this year, namely Sara (head coach) Kimberly, Hannah, Chase, and I’m sure others, have been wonderful! They are all very talented themselves! They are supportive and encouraging to the girls. They do all they can to make sure they are portrayed in the best possible light and each girl is given a moment to shine. All in all I’m very pleased with Hot Shots as an organization!” -Candice Robertson, Mother of Micaela, Age 11
