Rome GA with Kids hopes to see YOU at the Rome Winter Wonderland Carnival & Ice Festival at the Forum on Ice this Saturday and Sunday (some performances start Friday night)! We will have our first ever booth set up with a fun game and coloring contest for children so please stop by and support us! I’m super excited about this celebration of culture and community!

Things to Know:

Who: PERC (Peacefully Engaging the Rome Community) is a local non-profit which celebrates understanding, and peace among diversity in the community. They are partnering with the Forum to bring this event to us. What: The festival is intended to celebrate “The Season of Peace” by providing a platform for various social, religious, ethnic, and cultural groups of Rome and Floyd County to share how they embrace this festive time of year. Where: The festival happens around throughout the Forum River Center in Rome including halls and around the ice skating rink. Price: Entry to the festival is FREE, but there is still a charge to skate ($3 / ages 4 and under; $10 / ages 5+), and most likely, a small fee for the bounce area. You will also definitely want to bring money for some holiday shopping and food from local vendors. When: (schedule details below) Friday, Nov 30 | 6:30pm – midnight (adults only after 8pm) Saturday, Dec 1 | 10am – 10pm (booths until 6pm, adults only after 8pm) Sunday, Dec 2 | noon – 6pm Why: This is not just another smorgasbord of vendors selling items. Though there will be opportunities for sales, priority was given to groups in the area who will showcase their culture and diversity. Booths are asked to look festive, so the atmosphere will be one of winter, holidays, and celebration. Many booths (like ours) will be set up carnival style, with activities for children!

Details

The Rome Winter Wonderland Carnival and Ice Festival will be held in and around the Forum River Center in downtown Rome, GA Friday, November 30th through Sunday, December 2nd, 2018. This event is FREE and open to the public. It will run alongside The Forum River Center’s first annual “Forum on Ice” event featuring indoor ice skating (separate ice skating fees will apply). In addition to the vendors and exhibition, the festival will include a seasonal theme event each evening of the festival!

The three day event will include educational and art exhibitions, food vendors, musical and theatrical entertainment, vendor goods, crafts, and overall genial fellowship. It is our belief that the opportunity to share and experience each other’s most sacred traditions, can only broaden our horizons and promote better understanding among our neighbors.
